iBUG

iBUG (Islington Borough User Group) is a group of people who use or have used mental health services and have come together to monitor the provision of these services in Islington.

All iBUG projects are run by service users, for service users.

We have been established as a not-for-profit limited company for 10 years and have a wealth of experience in running projects and participating in the commissioning and development of statutory and voluntary sector mental health services in the borough.

Once a month iBUG holds a Business Meeting where members are able to gather together and gain access to support and information about services in Islington. Members feedback about any projects they have been involved with and often speakers from service providers come in to give information and ask for service user opinions. Any new or old member is welcomed here. Please contact us for an up-to-date list of meeting dates.

We run a volunteer project called Patients Council. On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, a group of iBUG members visit all the wards of the Highgate Mental Health Centre to visit the inpatients, check their needs are being met and give them a chance to talk. Any issues needing further help, are referred to the appropriate department. All volunteers for this project are DBS (CRB) checked, supervised and trained. We are currently recruiting new volunteers with lived experience of mental illhealth. Please contact us to discuss joining.

You can also contact us at any time for advice about mental health services. We can help you find the right support you need and signpost you to a number of other services.

All Islington mental health service users are welcome to join iBUG or be added onto our mailing list.
