Barnet Intensive Enablement Team

The Barnet Intensive Enablement Team (IET) provides community-based rehabilitation treatment and support for adults with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, with a primary diagnosis of psychosis, who live in supported or residential accommodation to support them with their mental health needs. We primarily work with clients living in residential or supported accommodation in the London Borough of Barnet but we also undertake social care reviews for clients placed by Barnet in other areas.
The team is multi-disciplinary and consists of professionals from a number of backgrounds including nursing, social work, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, assessment and enablement officers, associate mental health workers and support workers. We also have social work and nursing students on placement with us and are supported by a dedicated admin team.
The care delivered is focused on Rehabilitation and Enablement. As such, much of our work is focused around working with you as an individual and also working closely with support staff at your residential or supported accommodation.

How to access this service
You have to be currently living in supported or residential accommodation in the London Borough of Barnet (or funded by the London Borough of Barnet for social care reviews), to access our service. Most of our clients are referred through locality teams in Barnet or out of borough Community Mental Health Teams who have placed clients at residential care homes or supported accommodation in the borough.
Please be advised that specific referral criteria is applied due to the specialist nature of our service.
Who is this service for?
Our service is for adults aged over eighteen years old, primarily experiencing Psychosis and who are living in supported or residential accommodation in the London Borough of Barnet and would benefit from Rehabilitation and Enablement Services.
We mainly visit people at their supported accommodation or residential home or out in the community. We have facilities to also meet with people at the Springwell Centre, Barnet Hospital.
What to expect
We work closely with supported living and residential care providers to ensure support offered is focused on enablement and goal focused.
