Camden Memory Service

We provide assessment, treatment and on-going support to people with dementia and their families/friends. We generally see people who are over 65 years of age, but we can also see younger patients in certain circumstances. Camden residents who are concerned about symptoms (i.e. memory) associated with dementia.

After we receive a referral from your GP we will carry out an initial assessment, usually by one of the team doctors, and generally at your home. We may then request further diagnostic tests (a CT head scan, further blood tests, for example). Once we get the test results, we will arrange a feedback appointment with you, usually at the Peckwater Centre. At this appointment we will discuss the test results with you and you will be given a diagnosis and offered treatment if appropriate. If you are diagnosed with dementia you will be reviewed regularly at home by one of the practitioners in the team for on-going monitoring and to offer support, advice and signposting.

The team can provide Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, pharmaceutical treatment, Psychology (also available for family carers/relatives), Occupational Therapy and Nursing interventions and a specialist intervention for family carers/relatives.
