Frequently asked questions about the Friends and Family Test
What is the Friends and Family Test?
The Friends and Family Test is a way of collecting feedback about your experience of using our services. Everyone who receives care at C&I will be given the chance to answer a simple question about their experience.
The results will make it easy to compare NHS hospitals, and will give the NHS valuable information on what patients think of services and how they can be improved.
The test is very simple. You will be asked the question:
Overall, how was your experience of our service?
You will be asked to respond to the question by choosing one of six options:
- Very good
- Good
- Neither good nor poor
- Poor
- Very poor
- Don't know
You will then be given a chance to tell us why you chose that answer. Your answer will not be traced back to you, and your details will not be passed on to anyone, so please tell us exactly what you think. A member of your family or a friend is welcome to help you give your feedback to the question if you are unable to.
Do I have to respond to the question?
No. You do not have to respond to the question, but if you do, your feedback will provide valuable information about the quality of our services.
Does this replace the existing compliments or complaints procedure, or other forms of feedback used by the hospital?
No, you can still pass your compliments or complaints to our Advice and Complaints Team in the normal way. The Advice and Complaints Team can be contacted via feedback@candi.nhs.uk or 020 3317 7102.
How will the results be used?
C&I will gather the results and quickly analyse them to see if any action is required. We will publish our results online and you will also be able to see results for other hospitals to see how we compare.
Where will the results be published?
The results will be published on the NHS England data pages.
