Women’s services
We provide care in women-only services at Drayton Park Women’s Crisis House and Resource Centre and on the Rosewood Unit, based at St Pancras Hospital. The most vulnerable women are referred to these services, but other women are admitted to mixed sex facilities. In the latter services staff pay particular attention to ensuring the safety, privacy and dignity needs of these women are met. Whenever possible and practical there is:
- Choice of women primary nurse/key-worker
- Choice of women psychiatrists and psychologists
- Access to women’s groups
- Access to information for women (directories and phone lines)
- Support with children and space to be visited off the ward by children as appropriate
- Women only space
Drayton Park Women’s Crisis House is a centre of expertise and is utilised as both a resource centre and offers direct provision of services for women experiencing mental distress. It provides the Trust with the necessary expertise and knowledge with gender specific issues and is considered an example of excellent practice.
The Rosewood Unit is an acute inpatient for women from Camden and Islington. These are examples of the Trust’s commitment to provide choice and accessibility to women needing gender-specific services.
