Psychosis

Rehabilitation and Recovery

We provide information, advice and education support to service users and we also give guidance to professionals and agencies on the management of mental illness.

  • diagnosis, information and advice about your mental health condition; 
  • a range of medication options;
  • referral to psychological therapies;
  • support in remaining in or getting back into employment or education;
  • help to access community activities;
  • practical assistance to live at home;
  • support services for families and carers
  • help with housing, welfare rights, legal advice, local voluntary sector organisations and advocacy services.

Teams within the division are:

Early Intervention Service – a cross borough service subdivided into Camden and Islington sub teams - they support people to make a full recovery from first and subsequent episodes of psychosis, through early detection, assessment.

Community Recovery & Rehabilitation Teams – provide multi-disciplinary treatment to service users with psychosis. There are four Recovery and Rehabilitation teams, covering the North and South of each borough. The teams are working to implement a recovery approach as the guiding principle of their way of working with service users.

Assertive Outreach Team –work with patients who have a diagnosis of a psychotic illness and are hard to engage in community treatment, are not complaint with treatment and may also have a dual diagnosis of substance abuse.

Day Centres and Support Services – services for people with psychosis, including Cornwallis (in Islington) and New Routes (in Camden) intensive support teams and the Re-Ablement Team which offers short term intensive and direct support, to help people through the early stages of recovery from an acute episode. The Highgate and Isledon day centres offer social, therapeutic and vocational support with group and individual work.

In-patient and Community Rehabilitation. There is a range of inpatient and community rehabilitation services provided, including four inpatient wards (Montague Tredgold, Sutherland and Malachite wards) and a range of community accommodation in both Camden and Islington boroughs, both provided directly by the Trust and provided in partnership with third sector providers.

Kidstime – offers multi-family workshops for children and parents affected by mental illness.
