Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust’s (C&I) Women’s Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Ruby Ward, moved to a newly designed facility at Highgate West on Wednesday 10 August.
The move will enhance the recovery and support of women who temporarily require this kind of care as part of their admission. While this is a service predominantly for women in the care of C&I and Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust, it also welcomes patients from other London Mental Health Trusts.
Dr Vincent Kirchner, C&I’s Chief Medical Officer says: “Our newly designed PICU at Highgate West will enable local women to receive the highest quality intensive psychiatric care and will lead to better clinical outcomes. The 12 bedded ward will care for their mental and physical health needs. The new facility includes a physical health suite, calm room, seclusion room and a spacious outdoor therapeutic garden.”
