Plans submitted for permission to build new hospital at Highgate East

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to have submitted plans to the local authority, as part of the planning application process, to gain permission to build its new inpatient mental health facility at Highgate East. This comes following year-long co-production work with our service users, carers, staff and other local stakeholders, to design the new hospital building and the spaces within it.

Trust Development Project Director, Akin Durowoju, who is leading the new build, said: “This is a significant milestone in the project and has taken a tremendous amount of work and commitment from our service users and those who care for them, colleagues and other local people. I would like to thank everyone who has helped to shape the design of the new hospital, supporting our aim to develop a modern, therapeutic facility, dedicated to wellbeing and recovery, whilst enabling staff to provide the best possible care.”
