Join a panel focusing on improving equality

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is working with local partners including Healthwatch Camden and Healthwatch Islington, to improve equality across health organisations in both boroughs, and we would like your help.

We are looking for interest from people from a range of different backgrounds, representing a variety of races, religious beliefs, ages and sexual orientation. For further detail of the nine characteristics we are looking to have represented, please click here.

We are inviting them to join a new panel, which will focus on improving equality across Camden and Islington.

Panelists will:

  • Help us direct what we need to do around equality and diversity;
  • Identify areas of weakness and prioritise areas we need to focus on;
  • Rate us on how well you think we are performing;
  • Help us develop services to ensure they meet the needs of all our communities; and
  • Help to develop plans to tackle inequalities to meet the equalities agenda.

This is a volunteering role and we very much appreciate the valuable time and commitment panelists will put in to make local healthcare services better for everyone.

If you would like to be involved with this panel, please download and complete the Expression of Interest and Diversity Monitoring Form, and return to the following address:

This work has been formed as a result of the Equality Delivery System (EDS), which was commissioned by the national Equality and Diversity Council to help NHS organisations improve the services they provide and better working environments, which are free from discrimination.

After an evaluation of the EDS, a refreshed version – EDS2 – was made available in 2013. Its main purpose is to help NHS organisations and their local partners review and improve their performance for people protected by the nine characteristics.

For more information, please watch NHS England’s EDS2 video.
