The sun shone through the grey clouds on Thursday 28 February for the latest Star of the Month surprise presentation. Anne-Marie Bell, a Care Support Worker, was nominated for her dedicated work to support patients on Opal Ward.
Anne-Marie, who has worked at the Trust for two and a half years, was taken by surprise when Acting Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Strategy and Business Development, Darren Summers, arrived to present the award.
Darren said: “On behalf of everyone at the Trust I want to thank you for the amazing work you are doing here on Opal Ward. The nomination demonstrates how you go above and beyond to care for service users under our care and I’m delighted to be presenting you with this Star of the Month award.”
Part of Anne-Marie’s nomination read: “What stands out is Anne-Marie's complete dedication to patient care, to making sure service users really feel listened to, understood and cared for. Throughout a shift, Anne-Marie is usually out on the floor, engaging and interacting with service users and their families. She is quick to respond to requests and always willing to go above and beyond to make people feel welcome. Anne-Marie is able to quickly and effectively build rapport with service users, in a kind, positive and respectful way. Most of all, she is a strong advocate for the service users under her care."
Anne-Marie was presented with a gift voucher, certificate, badge and biscuits and applauded by her colleagues on the ward.
Anne-Marie said: “Our service users who we care for here on Opal Ward are like family to me, and the way I care for them is how I would want my family to be looked after if they were under our care. I am touched to be awarded as Star of the Month – it’s lovely to be recognised for the work I do.”
