Congratulations to our peer support service

Congratulations to our Choice and Control Peer Coaching Service who have won an Outstanding Peer Service award!
The win was announced at a Peer Involvement Network event in Camden, aimed at celebrating how people with lived experience are helping others in many different ways in the community. Organised by the charity SHP (Single Homeless Project), the day brought together organisations including C&I, Talk for Health, Fulfilling Lives in Islington and Camden (FLIC), C&I volunteering services, St Giles, VoiceAbility, the C&I Recovery College and Change Grow Live.
People were able to find out more about the wide variety of work that peers do, as well as attend workshops and presentations wellbeing, assertiveness and green social prescribing.
The citation on the award said it was presented: “For being the service who not only provided the first widespread peer care in Islington, but also reached out to different establishments, building strong partnerships, constantly upgrading and adapting their own service and supporting several brand new peer services to start up.”

Cerdic Hall, Manager of the Choice and Control Peer Coaching Service, said: “This award recognises the time and hard work that all our talented Peer Coaches put in to help others. Peer Coaches form relationships with their clients that encourage, motivate, inspire, challenge and move.  They use their lived experience of the challenges that people are facing to show up with hope and compassion.  I'm so grateful for their leadership and dynamism."
The service links people who struggle with both a mental and physical health condition with a peer who has experienced similar challenges  The Peer Coach then works with them and the clinical team to offer support.
