The trust has been shortlisted for Improving Staff Experience for its Change and Inspire Health and Wellbeing Programme in this year’s prestigious Nursing Times Awards.

The nomination recognises the work we are doing to provide staff with the ability to lead healthier lifestyles through structured initiatives which are designed to encourage better diet and healthier eating, increased physical activity, and better mental health.

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is delighted that after its successful pilot across five GP Practices, Islington CCG has commissioned a full primary care mental health service for the whole Borough. The roll out will begin in three GP practices in South Islington, and it’s hoped the service will be available to all practices by the end of the year.

It’s Mental Health Awareness week and the theme for this year is Mindfulness. Being aware of our thoughts and feelings as they happen can be beneficial as it allows us to address negative thoughts and feelings before they begin to impact our wellbeing. We've launched our new website to ensure that the people who use our services and the local community are able to find out more about C&I and the services we provide.

Colin Plant, Director of Integrated Care will be retiring and leaving the Trust in early July, after 13 years of dedicated service to the Trust. He has many fond memories of working here but is looking forward to the next chapter in his life and being able to spend more time with his young son.

The Care Act modernises a range of old social care legislation, to underpin good practice. This means that social care will become more personalised and will be based around a person's wellbeing.

Malachite ward has been awarded an AIMS Reaccreditation following a successful peer review visit last year. This is a standards-based accreditation programme designed to improve the quality of care in inpatient mental health wards, part of an initiative of the College Centre for Quality Improvement.

Mental health patients, including those detained under the Mental Health Act, have the same right to vote as the general population. Only patients detained after having been convicted of committing a criminal offence are not eligible to vote. The deadline for registering to vote is Monday 20 April.

This year's Discover Recovery, an event that celebrates recovery from drugs and alcohol in Camden, was held on Wednesday 25 March. It was opened by Mitch Winehouse, Amy Winehouse's dad, who gave a powerful speech to kickstart the day.

A Thematic Review was commissioned by our Chief Executive, Wendy Wallace, following 19 serious incidents involving patients in a seven month period. This was to determine whether there were any service related themes which could be identified and if the incidents taken as a whole formed a cluster.
