C&I opens women's psychiatric intensive care unit

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) has officially launched a specialist psychiatric intensive care unit for women (WPICU) - the only such unit to offer this service across north central London.

Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving

STEPPS is a 20-week, manual-based, psychoeducational group treatment that combines skills training with cognitive-behavioural techniques. The groups are typically lead by two trainers for about 8-10 participants.
The training begins with some basic information on Borderline Personality disorder.

From Monday 4 to Friday 8 December 2017 we will be welcoming the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to the Trust for an inspection of our services. 
In the lead up to the inspection, the CQC would like to hear feedback from people who have used services at C&I as well as their friends and relatives.

Our strategic objectives and key priorities

We are a strong performing, ambitious organisation. Our focus is on providing high quality, safe and innovative care to our patients and their families.

The success of any organisation starts with being able to identify what its focus should be long-term.

Over the last year, we have worked hard collectively to decide what Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust’s focus should be, with the following three, key priorities now agreed:

North London Partners Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service

SPMHS covers five London Boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington.
The North London Partners Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service (SPMHS) is a community-based mental health team serving the needs of pregnant and postnatal women with moderate to severe ment


Views of service users and carers

We have held around 20 informal meetings with various service users and carer groups over the spring and early summer.  In general, Option Two is the preferred option by a very wide margin and is also the Trust’s preference. 
Some service users with direct experience of the St Ann’s site reacted negatively to the possibility of inpatient beds moving there. There was concern about the harder-to-reach location and of the possibility of a merger of the two Trusts if inpatient beds were moved onto the St Ann’s site.
