Where: The Conference Centre, St Pancras Hospital, 4 St Pancras Way, London, NW1 0PE
 
Opening night and preview: Thursday 5.30pm -7.30pm, 21 July 2016

Artwork from around 30 exhibitors including nurses and patients and depicting themes, thoughts, ideas and feelings related to the “Art of Caring” will be showcased at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) for three months following a preview this month.
 
The multi-media exhibition is a collaboration between C&I, Kingston University and The Arts Project charity and will comprise art submitted to the university that has been inspired by International Nurses Day earlier this year. Speakers at the preview include Caroline Harris-Birtles, C&I’s Deputy Director of Nursing, and Dr Karen Norman, Visiting Professor at the School of Nursing, Kingston University.
 
They will be followed by live music from Key Changes, a charity that provides music engagement and recovery services in hospitals and the community for people experiencing mental health problems.
 
The evening is also part of C&I’s Medicine for Members events programme and all Trust members are welcome. The exhibition at St Pancras Conference Centre, which will also feature artwork both from self taught and professional artists, will run until Thursday 13 October.
 

Notes to editors

  1. The exhibition preview will take place on Thursday 21/7/16 at 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm with speeches followed by live entertainment.
  2. The work on display by 30 artists in The Conference Centre was selected from over 300 entries submitted to Kingston University. For the second year of THE ART OF CARING submissions were inspired by the theme of resilience which is ‘ the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant stressors.  It means "bouncing back" from difficult experiences.’  American Psychological Association (2014)  
  3. Selected work will be for sale with 20% donation made to The North London NHS Charitable Fund .
  4. The Art of Caring is the summer exhibition in a Four Season’s programme of exhibitions curated by The Arts Project at St Pancras Hospital Conference Centre Gallery Space.
