Feeling low, anxious or upset often affects the way we eat and the amount of activity we feel like doing. This is perfectly normal. There are times when people avoid food and other times people eat for comfort or to make themselves feel better.
Most people, at some point in their lives, worry about putting on weight or about losing weight.
Researchers have shown that the types of food we eat, and our habits of eating, drinking and exercise can have quite a big influence on our moods and emotions. Not everyone reacts in the same way to changes in diet and activity, but it is something that everyone might find helpful to think about.
Don’t give yourself a hard time about your diet or exercise regime or become too critical of yourself. If the suggestions in this section seem helpful then do give them a try. If they seem irrelevant or too onerous then give them a miss for now and come back to them when you feel ready.
