Consultation on mental health hospitals in Camden and Islington
Following last year's public consultation on mental health hospitals in Camden and Islington, we have now completed the reduction in inpatient beds and the relocation of wards from the Grove Centre and Queen Mary's Hospital to our sites at St Pancras Hospital and Highgate Mental Health Centre.
This proposal has been made possible by the wide range of improvements and innovations in local community-based mental health services in recent years. 97% of people who use C&I services are now supported to live in the community. C&I will still always provide a bed to every person with a clinical need for one.
We have consulted with all ward-based rostered staff on a workforce reconfiguration. This proposed to bring our staffing in line with the lower number of beds, and to reduce our costs. It also ensures that we have consistent staffing across all similar wards to ensure safe, high quality services for each different ward type.
