Camden Mews and Piercy Day Hospital

Camden Mews and Piercy Day Hospital

The Board agreed, at a meeting on 29 March, with the recommended proposal, following our consultation, to merge the older people's day hospital services currently provided at Piercy Day Hospital and Camden Mews onto the Camden Mews site, and change the model of care provided to enhance the focus on recovery. The new service will provide for at least the same number of people as currently use the two day hospitals.

This decision means that we will be developing a new community recovery service for older people in order to provide an alternative to hospital admission and to support early discharge from hospital.

The new service will work closely with crisis teams and other community services to support and treat older people with mental health problems.

Colin Plant, Camden Borough Director, said: "We are very excited about the plan for a new recovery service for older people, which will build on the strengths of Camden Mews and Piercy Day Hospitals whilst bringing in the strengths of the recovery centre model already in operation in the Trust. We will see real improvements in the service for older people in Camden and Islington."
